Submitted Jun 28, 2009 by Reel Bass Adventures: "Bass are settling into a summer pattern, with many large bass in the thickest grassbeds in the river. We are having success in grass fishing Bronze Eye frogs in black or green pumpkin, Strike King Ragin' Shad in white, large white buzzbaits with gold blades, and poppers on the edges of the grass and flipping the thick mats with 4" Berkley Chigger Craws in black/blue or sapphire blue. But a pattern that has really developed over the past few days is fishing a white/charteuse spinnerbait with double colorado blades around wood on the main river and tidal creeks. We have found that numerous bass can be caught from a single tree using this method. On ledges where hydrilla is found on the edges, we have caught quality bass on soft crawfish imitations and 7" Zoom trick worms and have found that dark colors produce the most strikes. Weightless stick baits also work well in the backs of the tidal creeks." Water Temperature: 83 degrees; Water clarity: 1-2 feet. ...More Fishing Reports |
